Rotary
Tree of Joy. The Rotary Club of Kenton on Sea has committed to the Rotary Tree of Joy
project, which is a wonderful way of providing joy to people normally forgotten at
Christmas.
What is the Tree of Joy? The Tree of Joy is a Rotary community orientated project
aimed at providing gifts to people, young and old, who seldom have the pleasure of
receiving one for Christmas. The Tree of Joy was a great success and might become an
annual project.
The
Dictionary Project
Kenton Rotary has adopted "The Dictionary Project", after having received a
supply of 20 dictionary books supplied by Rotary S.A. In addition the Kenton-on-sea
Rotarians have paid for a further 40 dictionaries, and together with other generous
donations we now have a total of 80 dictionaries. The Club hopes to piggy-back
on the Tree of Joy and Christmas Raffle projects to promote this project further
during the December festive season. The aims is to have 100 books to hand over to a
suitable Primary School during 2010. Workshops will follow. The dictionary project forms
part of the Literacy Campaign. The dictionaries will function as resource material.
In addition, Stella has obtained donations from two News Agencies in Kenton for books for
pupils from Grade R to Grade 3. The organization known as HEARTLINES has also promised a
large donation for these reading books.
