THE
KENTON CLEAN-UP JULY 2010.
2011/2012.
Rotary Kenton is planning on tackling the
pollution in our rivers during 2011/2012. Watch this space.
Previous clean-ups.....
The Middle Beach Cleanup - October 2010.
For the past
30 years we have had to put up with the remains and the rubble from boat-houses from
earlier times.
Rotary Kenton
decided to tackle to job and to restore that section of the beach to it's natural state.
Brian
Pachonick took on the task and removed three truck loads of building rubble.
The photos
tell the full story. Thank you Brian and Rotary Kenton for a job well done.

The
Big Kenton Cleanup......June 2010
In
the space of two weeks, Leigh Fogarty has proved that where there is a will, there is a
way. Together with a small team of only two laborers, Leigh tackled the huge problem of
garbage and waste in Kenton on Sea.
Whilst
on snare patrol, Leigh had noticed the vast amounts of litter and human waste collecting
in the bush all over Kenton. His request for funds from Rotary met with a positive
response and Leigh set about almost single-handedly removing massive amounts of rubbish
from 5 pre-selected areas in Kenton.
The
photos and street map below tell only part of the story. We leave the rest to your
imagination. The map indicates the
areas he has cleaned.
Area 1: Between Kenton
Road / Butt Street / Ocean Ave and Beach Road yielded 41 bags of garbage.
Area 2: Between Oettle
/ The R72 / Northwood Road yielded 66 bags.
Area 3: Between River
Road / Ocean Ave / Donkin Drive yielded 98 bags.
Area 4: Between Somerset,
William way / Recreation yielded 46 bags.
Area 5: Opposite
Robby's on the old commonage yielded 72 bags.
A total of 323 bags of
garbage.
Surely the local
authority should be maintaining the cleanliness of our village at all times?
